Project Idea: Stained Glass Journal 8.5" x 5.5"

Preparation:

Select decorative or plain paper for journal text. Select favourite Bible scriptures or inspirational sayings. Select an inspirational photo from internet or clip art (a painting, nature scene or photo of stained glass windows are great ideas).

Materials needed:

1 sheet of Grafix Stained Glass Film

Several sheets of Grafix Translucent vellum or decorative paper

Hole punch and an X-acto knife

Grafix Raffia

Grafix Double Tack adhesive

Stapler

Step 1: Journal Cover – Fold 1 sheet of Grafix Stained Glass film in half. Print the selected photo onto the Grafix vellum paper. Make sure the photo is less than 2/3 the size of the journal cover.

Step 2:To make the front window cut a rectangle shape 4 x 1-1/2” into the Stained Glass film with the X-acto knife centered about 1” from the top of the journal cover.

Step 3: Paste the photo to inside of the journal cover with front showing through the window. Punch hole centered on the cover front and journal back on the uncreased edge of the Stained Glass film. Tie raffia to each side, leaving enough to tie the journal closed.

Step 4: Stack the vellum or decorative paper in altering colors. Fold the vellum in ½ to make pages for journal. Staple along the crease of the papers very close to edge.

Step 5: Glue along inside creased edge to adhere decorate journal pages.

Step 6: Print out Scriptures or sayings in interesting font onto the vellum. Cut these out and paste onto journal pages. You may want to put your favourite on the first page so that it shows through your window. If using colored Clear-lay, you could group the scriptures by theme separated by the colors.

Step 7: Display and enjoy your beautiful journal.
